a new low-carbon heating system such as an air-source heat pump. (Please note the new heating system to be installed cannot be a gas or oil boiler).

solar panels to generate a proportion of free electricity

double/triple glazing

repairing or replacing draughty doors and windows


HOW MUCH COULD I GET?

What you can get will depend on the type of property you have and the types of improvements you can make.


WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

The Warm Homes: Local Grant is open to homeowners living in hard-to-heat homes, determined by an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D or below.

If you are a private tenant, your landlord may be able to arrange the improvements on your behalf. You could be eligible if your

home has an EPC rating of D or below, and one or more of the following must also apply:

Your home is in a low-income area

You are in receipt of certain mean-tested benefits – including Universal Credit

Your household income is below £36,000. You may also be eligible if your income is higher than £36,000 if your housing costs – such as rent and mortgage payments – are particularly high

Dependent upon your eligibility and the funding available, experts will carry out an assessment of your home and will identify which improvements will provide the greatest benefits.

You will then be offered the best solutions for your home that fit the scheme criteria.


WHEN CAN WORK START?

Improvement work can take several months. This funding will help you prepare for next winter when you can look forward to reduced energy bills and a warmer home.

WHEN CAN I APPLY?

Applications for residents in Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable and the surrounding villages are now open, and the money will be available until March 2028. Please use the TAKE SURVEY link to begin your application.
